SPECIAL ELECTION PERIOD
Special Election Period (SEP)
The special election period allows you to change your plan outside of the traditional enrollment periods. Depending on your situation, you may change your plan and choose an option that works better for you. The timeframe of your special election period will depend on your situation and circumstance.
5-Star Special Election Period (SEP) *****
Every year Medicare plans are rated on a 5-star scale based on quality and performance by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As a Medicare member either currently on a Medicare Advantage Plan or traditional Medicare with a Supplement, you can switch from your current plan to a 5-star rated plan once at any time throughout the year before November 30, 2022.
Annual Enrollment Period
The Annual Enrollment Period is October 15 – December 7. Medicare members can change their plan and it’ll be effective on January 1 the following year.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment
The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period is from January 1 – March 31. Are you enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan but want to switch? During this time, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan and join a separate Prescription Drug Plan.
